About the Book

Birth to Millennium: Mississauga's Sports Heritage

Author: Mike Toth

By history's measure Mississauga is a city still in its bootees, a young kid on the block, but heir to a rich sporting tradition.  People in what is now Mississauga were participating in recreational and leisure activities, playing games for fun, competing in more meaningful fashion or pursuing excellence in various forms, long before political interests decided that bigger is better and merged villages and small towns into one vast city.  Long before the dawn of a new millennium, there were Olympians and Olympic glory, world champions, Stanely Cup and Grey Cup winners in what was to become Canada's sixth largest city.  This book is a tip of the hat to all of Mississauga's good sports big and small.
