The Mississauga Sports Council, The Community Environment Alliance, and the Ontario Cricket Development Organization (OCDO) presented the first ever Ontario Youth Cricket Festival on Saturday September 30th, 2006. The event took place at the Artesian Cricket Ground in Mississauga. Skills training for Cricket included batting, bowling, and fielding. Everyone who came out had a chance to watch the feature exhibition game between the OCDO Youth Team and some of the local MPP's. This was a fun event and it gave people a chance to try something different.

This game takes floor hockey to the next level. Skills training included goaltending, passing, shooting, face-offs, and learning the rules of the game. After learning and practicing all of the required skills, the participants took part in an exhibition game. This showcase took place at Huron Park Recreation Complex on Saturday January 21st, 2006 and was brought to you by the Mississauga Sports Council and the Mississauga Floorball League. Newcomers to the game found floorball fast paced, safe, and extremely interesting to watch and play.

This showcase took place on Saturday June 17th, 2006 at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School. Participants had the chance to watch a demonstration of the most important basketball skills, which included passing, shooting, and dribbling. Everyone had a chance to use the skills training and try it out for themselves. The Mississauga Sports Council in association with the Mississauga Minor Basketball Association (MMBA) presented the showcase. Everyone had a great time who participated in the event!

On Saturday August 19th, 2006, the Mississauga Sports Council and Gymnastics Mississauga partnered on a Gymnastics Open House as part of the Sports Showcase Series. The event took place at Gymnastics Mississauga. Skills training stations included balance beam, trampoline, floor, bars, and rings. This showcase was highly successful and all of the kids who came out had a fantastic time.

On October 14th and 15th, the first ever Mississauga Youth Games took place at the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre. The Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre and the Mississauga Sports Council presented this event. Participants from the ages of 9 to 12 had the chance to play volleyball, soccer, floor hockey, basketball, badminton and track. Thanks to the great response, the Mississauga Youth Games hopes to expand all across the city next year.
